Careers and Colleges Expo 2010 will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the College of Central Florida, Ewers Century Center (in the Klein Conference Building). Approximately 60 exhibitors will be present to represent a variety of colleges, universities, businesses, careers, and branches of the military.

This is a great opportunity for our high school students to gain valuable information, so please make plans to attend.

Operation Christmas Child

Dear MBA Students and Parents,

We will be kicking off our Operation Christmas Child Campaign this week. Our goal is for each class to stuff as many shoe boxes as possible for children in need. Last year we supplied over 60 boxes, our goal for this year is 100 boxes.

Please take this opportunity to share the love of Christ through giving.

small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES
pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

HYGIENE ITEMS
toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

OTHER
Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps; sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)

A PERSONAL NOTE
In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.)

Beauty and the Beast

Step into the enchanted world of one of Disney’s best animated movies made into a Broadway Musical Classic! Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, the Broadway stage version of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST includes all of the wonderful songs, along with new songs and even a Beast who sings. You will be transported to the heart of a provincial life in a lovely French town. When Maurice (Belle’s father) becomes lost in the woods on the way to the fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle, but the master of the castle is a horrible beast that takes him captive. Maurice’s daughter, Belle, must then give up her freedom to save his life. Belle’s taming of the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation back into a handsome prince enthralled Broadway audiences for over 13 years. This “tale as old as time” is filled with spectacular enchanted costumes and sets! Be our Guest as Disney’s Broadway version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST brings our entire community together for family theatre at its best.

Track and Field Day

Dear Academy Parents,

Our Annual Meadowbrook Academy Field Day will be held on Friday, March 19. Kindergarten through 9th grade students will be competing against other Academy students in track and field events. Students in the 10th through 12th grade will be helping with the event. Students must be in regular Academy uniform or they may wear the approved PE uniform. Ribbons will be given to the first three places in each event.

The event will run from approximately 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., the awards ceremony will be held in the gym between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. We encourage you to come out and cheer the students on as we have a fun time and glorify the Lord. We are in need of volunteers for this event; so, if you are interested, please call the office to sign up. Make sure to bring your chairs, blankets, sun screen, hats, and extra cash as we will have a concession stand available for all to enjoy. We will be taking pre-orders for students only if you would like to make sure that your child gets food from our concessions for lunch.

Please fill out an order form and turn it into the office by Thursday, March 18.

~SPIRIT WEEK~

Attention All Students!

It’s time for our annual Spirit Week! Each day is an opportunity for you to have fun and show your creativity by dressing up according to that day’s theme. This year’s days are:

Monday (January 11) – Fan Day (wear your favorite sports team jerseys, memorabilia, etc.)

Tuesday (January 12) – Country Western Day (your choice of dressing up as cowboy or indian)

Wednesday (January 13) – Wacky Day (inside/out, mismatched, you name it!)

Thursday (January 14) – Character Day (your favorite movie character, super hero, and/or Disney princess)

Friday (January 15) – Spirit Day (Go all out in purple, green, and gold, or anything else to display your school spirit! Go Mustangs!)

It is not mandatory to dress up, but participation is encouraged. We simply want everyone to enjoy this week and have fun! If you choose not to dress up, you must wear your usual Academy uniform and abide by the dress code for the day. All students are expected to dress appropriately, even in costume.

We have a couple of other events going on this week that we would like to invite each of you to attend.

Senior Night will be held in our gym on Thursday, January 14 starting at 6:00 p.m.

Homecoming games against St. John’s are on Friday, January 15. The MBA varsity girls’ basketball team will play at 6:00 p.m. with the announcement of the Homecoming King and his court at halftime. The MBA varsity boys’ basketball team will play at 7:30 p.m. with the Queen and her court being announced during halftime of that game as well. This will be a night to remember, so please come and join us.

Candy Cane Lane
Gift Shop

The Academy is pleased to announce that we will be offering a wonderful opportunity for your child to experience the joy of giving during this holiday season. Candy Cane Lane Gift Shop is a perfect way for your child to select gifts for the entire family! This special shop will be open for students during the week of Monday-Friday, December 7-11.

This experience also makes the holiday buying safe, educational, and fun. While children shop for gifts, they will learn to budget money and make purchase decisions. We will have volunteers supervising and assisting your child with making gift selections and managing money.

We have a lot of really nice gifts available for every member of the family (including pets). Please have your child’s money in an envelope for safety and convenience with who they are purchasing gifts for written on the outside. Gift items and stocking stuffers range from $0.25 to $15.00 with the majority of the items ranging between $1.50 and $5.00. All Items will be bagged or wrapped for giving.

Candy-Grams are Here!

Offered by Meadowbrook Academy’s Senior Class

From Monday, December 7 through Friday, December 18,
candy-grams will be sold during each lunch period.
The cost will be $ .50 each.

The candy-grams will then be delivered to the students in their classrooms.

Just a Reminder…

Friday,November 20 is a 1/2 day.  School will be released at 12:45 p.m.  

The Academy’s Christmas musical, A Star Is Born, will be on Friday, November 20 in the Sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. This is wonderful presentation by our elementary students. Admission is free. See you there as we kick off the holiday season with singing, dancing, and lots of drama.
